Book - Shem Creek by Dorothea Benton Frank

I checked this book out of the library on a whim. I had never read anything by this author, nor had I read anything by her, but I have been seeing her new hardback, "Full of Grace" in the bookstores and Walmart. I read the jacket cover to that one and thought it sounded good. So, on a whim, I looked for books by her at the library and found this one - a quick perusal of the jacket cover made it sound like a book I would like.

And I was absolutely right! I read this book in record time, less than 2 days. It was very good, very Southern, and it read like you were listening to someone talk. Someone from "down here", down South. Maybe I just enjoyed the Southern aspect of the book, but I really did enjoy the plot too. It ended well, and that's always a plus for me.

I give this book 8.5 out of 10 stars. I definitely plan to read more by this author in the future. Maybe even all of them!
